MiDNI is the new official application developed by the Spanish Ministry of the Interior that brings the National Identity Document (DNIe) directly to your smartphone. Its goal is to simplify and secure personal identification in various everyday situations.

Officially identify themselves in face-to-face settings such as public offices, hotels, banks, pharmacies, universities, and postal services.
Sign notarial acts or legal documents.
Access events or venues that require identity verification.
Prove their age or identity in commercial transactions.
How MiDNI Works
Identification is performed using a temporary QR code, generated by the app and digitally signed by the Spanish National Police. This QR code can be scanned by another device using the MiDNI app to verify authenticity. Users can choose between three levels of data sharing:
DNI Age: shows photo, name, and age confirmation.
DNI Basic: includes photo, name, gender, and document validity.
DNI Full: displays all data found on the physical document.
The app does not store sensitive data on the device; all identity checks are performed in real-time through the Ministry’s servers, ensuring maximum privacy and security.
Current Limitations
At present, MiDNI does not fully replace the physical identity document. It is not valid for:
International travel or border crossings.
Online authentication or electronic signatures (these features are expected to be available starting in 2026).
